Main Street Construction, when will it be completed?

Summary

If you have driven on Main Street in The Colony in the last few years you are probably anxious for the construction to be completed. Main Street is one of the busiest streets in The Colony and the construction has been frustrating for many residents.  This $77 million construction project began in October 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2017.  Main Street is being widened six lanes north to US 380 and eight lanes from 121 to Ridgepointe Drive.  This will greatly improve the flow of traffic through the city and into Frisco and Little Elm. Since the start of construction car accidents have increased significantly. We need to be aware of the closures and changes in traffic patterns and comply with the 35 MPH speed limit. People looking for homes for sale in The Colony  are not being deterred by the construction. Inventory is still very low and homes are moving very quickly off the market. Check with The Colony Realtor for the most up to date homes for sale.  The Colony home values have continued to appreciate throughout the construction of Main Street and don’t show any signs of slowing down.

Progress

Currently work on the sound walls is underway and crews are working to finish turn lanes and driveways.  Paving is the top  focus at this point.  People will start to see a lot of progress in the upcoming weeks.

Having lived in The Colony for many years, I believe this will be a great addition to our city to help with the massive flow of daily traffic.  Aesthetically this will improve our cities image for all of the commuters passing through daily. This should help promote commercial business in The Colony along Main Street. I am very excited to see the end results!
